Ivy joined our congregation on September 1, 2018. She brings to her ministry a passion for listening for the movement of the Spirit in our midst and daring to step faithfully into the unknown future.
She provides a creative and interactive approach to worship, encouraging people to share their own perspectives and experiences.
Ivy is an experienced facilitator, workshop and retreat leader, and lover of meaningful conversations. She brings these gifts to a congregation that is eager to envision a new future and she gives thanks for the possibilities that await us.
Rev. Ivy Thomas
Delaine previously had the pleasure of working in the UK as Parish Secretary alongside her dear friend Revd. Canon N. Whitehead.
She moved to the Okanagan with her family where they actively enjoy raising their children. They can be found adventuring outside all year round; from skiing to swimming and everything in between.
Delaine's Great Grandfather worked for the United Church generations ago. Following in his footsteps she is grateful to have found her own place in the United Church of Canada.
Director of Music & Choir
Sylvia began playing the organ for the United Church of Canada when she was 13 years old. When she was 16, she also directed the choir. After graduation from High School, she attended the Conservatory of Music in Regina, studying piano, voice and pipe organ.
She moved to Kelowna in 1973 and began working for St. Paul's in 1974, First United in 1982 and then back to St. Paul's in 1998. She also has been involved with Theater Kelowna, still teaches piano and has a music therapy group, SongShine, which is funded by St.Paul's and the United Church of Canada.
Currently Sylvia directs 6 choirs and continues to play for Church services. St. Paul's has and always will be an important part of her life.
